A heartfelt thank you to everyone who attended, supported, or donated to our Adult Prom fundraiser. By all accounts, it was an absolute blast, and the energy in the room was something special. Events like this remind us that service and fun can go hand in hand, and when they do, our impact grows.
We are grateful, as always, to Starfire Event Center for being such a fantastic partner. Their team consistently helps us bring our events to life, and this year was no exception.
The evening truly came alive thanks to the incredible performance by Silver Alchemists. They exceeded every expectation, and it seemed like everyone in the room was blown away by how much fun they brought to the stage.
A special thank you goes to State Farm for sponsoring the band and helping make the night such a success. Your support made a meaningful difference.
And of course, none of this would have been possible without the dedication of our PIE (Public Image and Events) Committee. Your hard work behind the scenes created an unforgettable experience for our community, thank you for your commitment and creativity.
Looking ahead to this week’s meeting, we will hear from Co-President Katie Gonzales as she shares her experience at NCPELS (North Central President Elect Learning Seminar). This is a transformative opportunity for Rotarians, and Katie will walk us through what she learned and how she envisions bringing those insights back to strengthen our club. It’s important that we hear from our leadership and continue growing together.
Lastly, a reminder that Minnesota Food Share Month has been extended slightly, we have until April 6th to contribute. If you would like to donate, please let Gregg know if you prefer to be invoiced, or feel free to bring your donation to this week’s meeting.

Betty and Joel Weber won the coveted title of Prom King and Queen. Betty and Joel when to Waseca prom together three times in the 1900's and she is wearing her prom dress from high school. Congrats to these two!
Paul was born in Racine, Wisconsin, USA, on 19 April 1868, and was the second of six children of George N. and Cornelia Bryan Harris.
At age three, he moved to Wallingford, Vermont, where he grew up in the care of his paternal grandparents, Howard and Pamela Harris. He attended the University of Vermont and Princeton University and received his law degree from the University of Iowa in 1891.
While he was in school, both of Harris's grandparents died, and he spent the five years after graduation traveling around the country and working odd jobs. After arriving penniless in San Francisco in 1891, he worked as a reporter for the San Francisco Chronicle and then as a ranch hand, grape picker, actor, and cowboy. He was also a hotel night clerk in Jacksonville, Florida, and a traveling marble and granite salesman.
In 1896, he settled in Chicago and opened a law practice. Along with Gustavus Loehr, Silvester Schiele, and Hiram Shorey, he founded the Rotary Club of Chicago in 1905 and was elected its president in 1907.
In 1910, he met Jean Thompson during an outing with the Prairie Club, a Chicago-based organization for wilderness enthusiasts. Harris and Thompson married three months later and settled on Chicago's South Side.
In the same year, the National Association of Rotary Clubs was formed, and Harris was elected its first president. He held the office for two years and afterward became president emeritus, serving as the public face of the organization and promoting membership extension and service around the world.
Harris died on the 27th of January 1947, leaving a rich legacy of fellowship, professionalism, service, and friendship. His passing also sparked an outpouring of donations to The Rotary Foundation from all over the world.
