As we start the new month of September I’m so excited about the TWO programs that we have in the next week. Pastor Jillene will share her personal story related to Mental Health/Suicide this coming Thursday. We are meeting at Refinery 507 (formerly Bar on Main) as Lakeside isn’t available that day. Jillene has a talent of speaking and captivating the audience so pair that along with her personal story - this is going to be an impactful meeting that aligns with our goals for the upcoming year - Mental Health Awareness & Random Acts of Kindness.
In addition, the week of September 11-17 is Celebrate Community Week. Rotary clubs are encouraged to partner with other local clubs on a service project that will have a long-term impact in your community. In an effort to participate, we are hosting a program from LSS REACH Resource Center titled “Know the Facts: Red Flags, Support and Prevention” The Truth About Trafficking and Exploitation. We will be meeting at the Public Safety Building Conference Room and lunch will be provided. This special program does require you to RSVP to me for lunch counts. We have invited several local organizations and you can also extend the invitation to others. Lunch is available for $10 to any guests attending. I look forward to seeing many of you this next week and feel these are great programs that align with our goals this year.
There are two opportunities each month to participate in Rotary Readers, on the first Tuesday of the month. It is ideal if the Rotarian brings thier own book(s) to read, but the classroom does have them on hand. You only have to read one book, but the kids will probably insist you read a second book. Please wear some logo wear from your business or a Rotary shirt.
