As we move through April and begin to see the end of the school year on the horizon, it’s a natural time to reflect on the impact our schools have on shaping the future of our community. This week, we have a special opportunity to hear from one of our own, Caleb Davis, a graduate of Waseca High School, who has gone on to serve our country in a meaningful and impactful way with the United States Secret Service.

Caleb’s journey is a powerful reminder that the students walking our hallways today have the potential to do extraordinary things tomorrow. It is important that we, as a community, show up to support and celebrate individuals like Caleb, not only to honor his work, but to reinforce the value of the education and opportunities provided right here in Waseca. When we invest in our schools, we are investing in stories just like his.

April is also a month of service, and our club is proud to participate in the Lakes Clean Up alongside the Waseca Lakes Association. This project aligns beautifully with our district’s initiative encouraging all clubs to take on a water-related service project. It also directly supports one of Rotary’s core areas of focus, protecting the environment, while strengthening our local economy. Our lakes are not only a treasured natural resource, but a key driver of tourism in Waseca, bringing visitors, activity, and vitality to our community.

By caring for our lakes, we are preserving something that benefits everyone, from residents enjoying a summer evening on the water to visitors experiencing Waseca for the first time. It’s a simple but meaningful way to live out “Service Above Self.”
