Rotary Zone Institute
Ann Fitch
In Mid September I was able to go to the Zone Institute in Bloomington. Rotarians from Canada down to Texas gathered to do all things Rotary. It was four days of learning and leading, while comparing notes with other Rotarians. One of my key take-aways from the Institute was that we do not have a small club, at all. Outside of metropolitan clubs, we are very robust for numbers. But our participation percentages are lower than others. If you have a friend in Rotary, call them and invite them to an upcoming meeting.
Beyond that, I was able to meet and talk to the Rotary International President Elect, Gordon McInally from Scotland. He was an engaging orator and will be an excellent RI President next July. It truly was an honor to meet him.
Happy Holidays,
Ann

Mark your calendars: Special Meeting Monday October 24th for World Polio Day
October 24th is World Polio Day, so our Club will be having a special lunch meeting at noon at Lakeside. As Rotarians, we are close to eradicating polio worldwide. We we will learn about how Rotary leads on the World stage and we will hear from someone affected by polio. If you haven't been to Rotary in a while, this is an opportune time to return. Gathering to lift up our cornerstone cause is a heck of a reason for all Waseca Rotarians to attend.
Anna has a few plays under her belt as the new Drama Director for Waseca High School, including the hugely successful Leagally Blonde the Musical. She has her eyes set on making the theater in Waseca a "must see" event. Come hear what the Drama Department has in store for thier 22-23 Season.
Amy Potter and Marcy Buchele have agreed to be Co-President Elects of our Club. They will tag team the PE position and move into a Co-Presidency. It is awesome to see newer Rotarians stepping into leadership roles. Next time you see these ladies, please thank them for making this commitment.
Rotary Readers is a super fun way to serve our community. Bring a book to read and donate it to the classroom or read a book they have in the classroom. It only takes about 20 minutes of your time and has a big impact on these kids.
