Greetings from one of your new Rotary Presidents! Marcy Buchele and I are looking forward to leading Waseca Rotary this next year. As Bruce Boyce stated at Ann’s Farewell party, “It takes two to replace one, when following our Past President, Ann Fitch!
A HUGE thank you to Ann for leading Waseca Rotary this past year. Her passion for Rotary, her love for Waseca, decorated with her wit and humor always made meetings and Rotary activities fun and engaging. I think one of her accomplishments that will be remembered in the history of Waseca Rotary experiences, was the Moldovan Open World Exchange guests that we hosted. Many Rotarians that have been part of Rotary much longer than myself, reminisced about past exchange programs. This was so fun to hear and solidified how impactful these programs can be for years to come.
Thank you to Jon Stagman for hosting Ann’s Farewell party the last week in June! What a beautiful evening showcasing one of Waseca’s finest assets, Clear Lake. I had the privilege of touring the lake after dinner on the Stagman pontoon, with Jon’s daughter Kaiya, as the “captain of the ship”. She was so cautious, kind and concerned with our well being. Good job parenting Stagmans! Huge kudos to Matt & Kristie Biehn for the amazing seafood boil! It was absolutely delicious! I may have had to use a stain stick to remove the dripping butter from my dress. Worth it, for sure! They made it look easy, however that was a lot of food to be timed perfectly and seasoned just right, all while standing over a boiling pot outside on a 85 degree day.
July will be a different schedule than normal for Rotary meetings. You can see the meeting schedule in this newsletter. I want to Thank Ann in advance for stepping in to lead the meeting at the County Fair as Marcy and I will both be out of town. Eat some cheese curds and onion rings for me please! :)
This is always a fun meeting where we learn what the 4-H students are working on at the fair. And we get a great meal from the 4-H Building! Meet at the 4-H Food Building and we will eat at the picnic tables behind the building.
Meet Gordon McInally, our new Rotary International President. He is a thoughtful and passionate speaker on the mental health crisis that faces our global society. His theme of "Create Hope in the World" is truly his vision; that those who are feeling hopeless can find a glimmer of it through the acts of service by Rotarians. Gordon finds Rotary to be a great vehicle to care for and help others.
